Youth Clinics

Learning and developing correct form and technique for basic fundamental skills at an early age is essential. CSV offers four youth clinics each year:

Our goal is to service as many new players as possible. Because it is important to instruct players of similar ability, each clinic has a different focus.

Fall Indoor Jr. High Skills Clinic

A six-session no-cut program designed for players with a strong knowledge of fundamental skills. These players want instruction to prepare for their Jr. High School season and/or for club tryouts. The focus is on strengthening the player's skills of passing, serving, setting and hitting. It also includes an introduction to blocking, and strategies for defense and offense.

Coaching Staff: Sissy Nilssen and Club Shoreline Coaching Staff

The clinic includes the following:

  • Strengthening proper form and footwork of the following skills: passing, setting, serving and hitting.
  • Introduction to blocking, and strategies for defense and offense.
  • Volleyball specific conditioning.
  • Small class size: minimum of 12 players, maximum of 16 players.
  • Scrimmage and game like drills at last session.

Winter Indoor Beginner/Intermediate Clinic

A six-session no-cut program designed for girls who have no or very little volleyball experience OR girls who want to improve their fundamental skills.

The focus for a Beginner player will be an introduction to the sport of volleyball and development of correct form and technique for all the fundamental skills.

The focus for a Intermediate player will be multiple contact drills and increased development on passing, setting, serving and hitting.

Players will be placed in their appropriate level based on the skills and experience. Each clinic will be coached with structure and discipline.

Coaching Staff: Sissy Nilssen, Maddie Young and Club Shoreline coaching staff

The clinic includes the following:

  • Introducing and reinforcing proper form and footwork of the following skills: passing, setting, serving and hitting.
  • Beginner/Intermediate volleyball specific conditioning.
  • Basic team concepts and communication.
  • Small class size: minimum of 10 players in each level.
  • Mini scrimmage tournament at last session with Club Shoreline teams and coaching staff at the last session.

Spring Intro to Club Volleyball Clinic

An eight-session no-cut program designed for players who want to enhance their fundamental skills, learn team concepts, and learn more about club volleyball. The focus is on how to incorporate the basic fundamental volleyball skills on the court as a team. The players will learn team offense, defense and rotations. The clinic will participate in two tournament scrimmages and get the opportunity to use the skills they learned.

Please note: This clinic is not for beginner volleyball players. Players should have basic knowledge of passing/setting and should be able to serve overhand. Age recommodation: 12-14 years.

 

Coaching Staff: Club Shoreline staff

The clinic includes the following:

  • Strengthening proper form and footwork of the following skills: passing, setting, serving and hitting.
  • Introduction to strategies for defense and offense.
  • Large emphasis on instruction regarding rotation and team concepts.
  • Volleyball specific conditioning.
  • Small clinic size limited to 12 players only.
  • Two Tournament Scrimmages
  • Shoreline Gear

Registration and Fee for Tournament Clinic

A one-time fee of $350.00, includes coaching/instruction, Shoreline Gear and Tournament/Scrimmage fees. Registration begins on February 1st, 2012. Limited to the first 12 players.

 

Summer Beach Clinics

We offer two separate clinics. Each clinic is two weeks with eight (3 hour) sessions. Players in this club should have strong beginner volleyball experience however may be new to the beach volleyball game. Their skills should include a full understanding of passing, setting, hitting and serving and can demonstrate these skills. Tryouts are required. Typical age of the participant is 11 to 13 years old.

Coaching Staff: TBA - April 15, 2012.

The clinic includes the following:

  • Beach drills and game like situations instructed by experienced Club Shoreline coaches with competitive beach experience.
  • Introduction to strategies for defense and offense.
  • Beach volleyball conditioning and speed/agility drills.
  • Instruction of all beach volleyball rules and regulations.
  • Shoreline Beach gear: two tank tops, athletic beach top, a hoodie sweatshirt and sand socks.
  • Official CBVA (California Beach Volleyball Association) Wilson beach volleyball.
  • Small class size: minimum of 8 players, maximum of 12 players.
